Local Employment Officers and Social Economic Agents

The Local Employment Officers (LEO) and Social Economic Agents (SEA) provide Nunavimmiut with employment services as well as information about pursuing education, job opportunities, and government services. They serve as a link between Nunavimmiut and the KRG by helping the public access the services made available by the SED. There is an LEO and/or SEA in each of the 14 Nunavik communities.

  • Résumé (CV) writing.
  • Coaching for job interviews.
  • Information about training, job opportunities, and KRG programs.
  • Assistance applying for documentation such as a social insurance number and birth certificate.
  • Support for completing various forms including Raglan Mine and CRI job applications. Assistance in filing employment insurance claims.
  • Information on old age pension, family allowance, last resort financial support, QPIP/QPP, etc.

SEA can do for you

  • Provide assistance to Nunavimmiut for completing social services applications.
  • Analyze applications and documents submitted by Nunavimmiut.
  • Determine whether financial assistance can be provided to applicants.
  • Evaluate the amount to which applicants may be entitled.
  • Serve as a bridge between residents and government authorities.
